Obituary of Junior F. Pidgeon

On September 20, 1947, he married Alice Louise Turner in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Junior worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years until his retirement on December 30, 1982. His family includes his wife Alice Pidgeon; sons, Gary Pidgeon of Tiffin, Iowa; Stevan Pidgeon and his wife Jann of Coralville; three grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah and Chelsea; six sisters, Elsie Craig of Salem, Iowa, Alice Metsker of Montrose, Iowa, Bertha Tvedt of Bryon, Minnesota, Clara Watts, of Nampa, Idaho, June McEwen of Eugene, Oregon, and Dorothy Zuber of Crawford, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Harlen, Warren, and Roger, sister, Ruth Burch, and an infant sister. Junior served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII, in the South Pacific. Junior Pidgeon was born on April 30, 1925, in Grangeville, Idaho, the son of Charles and Uvena (Arnold) Pidgeon. He graduated from Salem High School in Salem, Iowa. He was a past member of the Coralville Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Coralville American Legion Walter Johnson Post #721, and Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Pidgeon enjoyed golf, gardening, woodworking, was an avid reader, but his first love was his family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Junior’s memory.
