Obituary of Carol A. Bahmler
Iowa City Dateline: Carol A. Bahmler, age 69 of 5752 Strawbridge Road NE, Iowa City, died Friday, November 11, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 7pm Monday, November 14, 2005, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5 pm to services Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for her family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Carol Ann Hills Bahmler was born September 12, 1936, in rural Johnson County, Iowa the daughter of Ira M. and Dorothy (Fountain) Hills. She was a graduate of Iowa City City High School class of 1955. ON July 6, 1957, she married Francis H. Bahmler in Iowa City. The couple has farmed in this area for many years and she was also employed for the City of Iowa City in the Finance Department for over thirty years retiring in 1998. Carol enjoyed life in many ways, from bowling where she belonged to the Iowa Womens Bowling Association for 20 years, as a member of AFSCME, going to the boat or casino, camping with family, just going to the sale barn, or sitting along the shore and watching the eagles, she enjoyed life! Her family includes her husband, Francis; daughters, Janice and her husband, Brad Brandenburg of West Branch, and Jackie and her husband, Nate Frederick of Tipton; son, Bret Bahmler of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Rick and Ryan Butler, and Samantha and Nathan Frederick; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Dylan, and Alejandra Butler; sisters, Shirley Buline of Lone Tree, and Donna and her husband, Tom Trent of West Liberty; and a special cousin, Bob Wheeler of Solon. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Keith, Maynard and Leland Hills, and a sister, Phyllis Slaugh.
