Obituary of David W. Schindler

David Schindler, age 61 of Williamsburg, died Tuesday morning, July 5, 2005, at his home after a long battle with diabetes. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2005, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 6pm Thursday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in David’s memory to Williamsburg First Responders. Online condolences may be sent for his family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. David Wayne Schindler was born May 31, 1944, in Iowa City the son of Herman Wesley and Alta Louise (Fiagle) Schindler. A graduate of Iowa City City High School. On September 6, 1970, he married Donna Nelson of Marshalltown. For most of his career, he worked for Proctor and Gamble Manufacturing in Iowa City. The couple lived in the Iowa City and Coralville areas where they raised their two daughters. They later moved to Williamsburg. David was an avid car enthusiast, also an avid bowler before he went on full time disability in 1995. He always enjoyed going with his wife, Donna to their daughters and granddaughters activities. His family includes his wife, Donna; daughters, Debra Schindler of Williamsburg, and Dana Schindler-Hubble and her husband, Ryan of Mt. Vernon, IA; two granddaughters, Cassandra Schindler and Jillian Hubble. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son, Daniel. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for David’s family and his services.
