Obituary of Kathleen apos;Kay&apos Cross

Kathleen M. 'Kay' Cross, age 85 of Iowa City died Sunday, January 4, 2004, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, Iowa Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 8, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Paul Akin officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Kathleen Myrtle Jensen Cross was born March 4, 1918, in Iowa City, the daughter of Wiggo and Dorothy (Tofting) Jensen. Kay married Stanley J. Cross November 1, 1941 in Iowa City. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she was always volunteering to help, especially with raising the green plants which were sold at the annual bazaar. She also raised plants for the annual Project Green Plant Sale. She enjoyed gardening and growing these plants, but most importantly, she loved spending time and caring for her family. Her family includes her daughter and her husband, Kathy Cross and Terry Allen of Lee’s Summit, MO; her son and his wife, Rick and Mary Cross of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Shane Cross, Caitlin Cross, Melanie Cross, Collin Allen and Trevor Allen; sister, Helen Jensen of Iowa City; and brother, Robert Jensen of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Stanley on June 8, 2002; and a sister, Lillian Meincke. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Kay’s family and her services.
