Obituary of Patricia A. Monsanto

Patricia A. “Pat” Monsanto, age 67, of 605 Greenwood Drive, Iowa City died October 12, 2004, at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City following a long illness. Funeral services will at 11:00 am on Monday, October 18, 2004, at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at a later date at the Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday, October 17, at the funeral home in Iowa City. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be sent for family through our website @ www.gayandciha.com. Patricia Anne Monsanto was born on December 28, 1936, in Iowa City the daughter of Thomas M. and Mabel H. (Stromsten) Parsons. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Nutrition. Pat married Chevalier “Monty” Monsanto on July 26, 1972, in Iowa City. She was employed at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City as a Ward Secretary in the Intensive Care Unit. Pat enjoyed knitting and served as a peer counselor for the Senior Center in Iowa City. Her family includes her husband, Chevalier “Monty” Monsanto of Iowa City; her children, Kimberly Sebesta of Seattle, WA, Paul and his wife Jennifer Sebesta of Los Lunas, NM, Joseph and his wife Michelle Sebesta of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren: Melissa, Mark and Madelyn Rangel; brother, Rev. Thomas Parson and his wife JoEllen of Lake Luzerne,NY; sister, Susan Morningstar of Iowa City; one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents.
