Obituary of Leo L. Embree

Leo L. Embree, age 91 formerly of 3042 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City died Monday, November 14, 2005, at the Lantern Park Nursing & Rehab Center in Coralville following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2005, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Paul Bult officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Friday until services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Iowa City Hospice. Leo was born September 5, 1914 in Lone Tree, Iowa the son of Frank and Dorothy (Godlove) Embree. He attended schools in Washington, Iowa. On July 4, 1941 he married Nellie Woods in Kahoka, MO. During WWII he served his country in the United States Army. For a number of years he worked as a carpenter for the University of Iowa. His wife, Nellie died on November 16, 1986. His family includes great-grandsons, Ronald Lothridge, Brian Lothridge, Bobby Lothridge, and Brent Lothridge; nephews, Max, Don and Phillip Embree. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother and a sister.
