Obituary of Dean C. Floyd

Dean C. Floyd, longtime Iowa City and Cedar Rapids resident, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City (note time change). Online condolences may be sent for Dean’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Dean was born July 1, 1916, in Iowa City the son of Mark and Margaret (Condon) Floyd. He attended Iowa City schools graduating from City High School, and later from the University of Iowa. On September 8, 1940, Dean married Gwendolyn Rummells here in Iowa City. The couple lived in Cedar Rapids for a period where Dean was associated with Collins Radio as “Computer Manager” for over twenty-seven years. He and his family returned to Iowa City where Dean worked for the University of Iowa in the Graduate College retiring in 1982. Dean was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City for many years. His family includes his wife, Gwen of Iowa City; daughter, Deborah Floyd of West Liberty and her significant other, Todd Peterson.
