Obituary of Jason M. Holderness
Jason M. Holderness finished his journey here on earth Tuesday, July 1, 2014. He passed away peacefully in his sleep, with his dog and best friend, Booker at his side. His long battle with diabetes and most recently kidney failure is now finished.
A gathering of family and friends will be held beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, July 5th at the VFW Hall in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his memory. Jason was born November 2, 1976 the son of Virgil and Linda (Redig) Holderness. He graduated from Highland High School in 1995 and from the Carpentry program at Kirkwood Community College in 2012. He was presently working towards a liberal arts degree with the goal of working with children at risk. For a number of years he owned and operated his own business, All J's Maintenance and Repair.
He was an avid Chicago Bears Fan, loved to play Frisbee golf, go bowling, camping and fishing; but most of all he loved his family and loved spending time with them!
His family includes his parents, Virgil and Linda Holderness; siblings, Alton Holderness (Angie), Shawn Holderness (Jenny), Hope Dean (Howard), Virgil "Corey" Holderness (Dawn), and Jessica Sonii (Ansu); nieces and nephews, Serena, Tim, Tasha, Matthew, Miranda, Jacob, Shawna, Michael, Angel, Brianna, Daja, Khadija, Markell, Blake, Kori, Devin, Zach, Ryleigh, Maddison, Noah, Blake, Kori, Nabrinah, Malieyah and Arionnah.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, and several uncles.
