Obituary of Muriel E. Hannes

Muriel E. Hannes, age 76, of 3116 Alpine Court, Iowa City, died at her home, Thursday, April 13, 2006. Family services will be held at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Tim Malek officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Muriel’s memory to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for her family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Muriel E. (Chack) Hannes was born February 7, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of John W. and Pearl M. (Nelson) Chack. She married Kenneth Hannes on December 29, 1950, in Minneapolis, MN. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City also a member of the Moose Lodge and in years past enjoyed bowling on leagues in this area. Her family includes three sons, Kevin W. Hannes of Waco, TX, Noel J. Hannes of Iowa City, and Eric J. Hannes and his wife, Lydia of Mechanicsville, IA; daughter, Amy E. Jacks of Warwick, NY; four grandchildren, Sarah Hannes, Michael Hannes, Brook Jacks, and Brittany Jacks. Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant daughter. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Muriel’s family and her services.
