Obituary of Donald C. Merrifield

Donald C. Merrifield, 69 of Iowa City died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Grace Fellowship Church, Iowa City with Reverend Gary Miller officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, LaSalle, Illinois. Don was a 1956 graduate of City High, Iowa City and served in the US Air Force. Don married Ruth Sepaniek on September 22, 1973 in Peru, Illinois. Don had worked at Sitler Electric, Washington, Iowa and was recently working in the State Historical Society, Iowa City. Don was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and loved to fish and garden. Don’s family includes his wife, Ruth; sons, Jim and his wife, Andrea of Center Point, Illinois and Larry and his wife, Kim of Oglesby, Illinois; four granddaughters, Danielle Walker, Jessica Mikaitis and her husband, Ed, Stacy Merrifield and Rikki Merrifield; a great grandson, Mason Merrifield; his step-mother, Ethel Baxter of Dunnelon, Florida; sisters, Deanna Daniels and her husband, Melvin of Iowa City, Sandra Holdiman of Iowa City, and Linda Williams and her husband, Wayne of Coralville; a brother, David Merrifield and his wife, Lynn of Monument, Colorado. Don was preceded in death by his parents. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City is caring for Don’s family and his services.
