Obituary of Barbara A. Neuzil

Iowa City Dateline: Barbara Ann “Barb" Neuzil, age 68 of 2217 Arizona Avenue, Iowa City, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at her home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 10, 2006, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m., Monday at the church. Memorial donations can be made in Barb’s memory to the Regina Education Foundation. Online condolences may be sent for her family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Barbara Ann Burke was born July 10, 1937 in Ft.Sheridan, Illinois the daughter of C. Cora (Cunningham) and Myron J. Burke. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Iowa City in 1956, and the Iowa City Commercial College. On May 28, 1956 she married Charles J. “Bud” Neuzil at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. For a number of years she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for “The Means Agency” and also “Old Capital Savings & Loan” both of Iowa City. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City. Her family, friends, and her faith in God were the driving forces and her passion in life. Her family includes her husband, “Bud”; son and his wife, Michael and Cindy Neuzil of Iowa City; daughter and her husband, Patricia Neuzil and Gudjon Jonsson of Iowa City; three granddaughters, Tiffany Elgin and her husband, Ryan of Coralville, Courtney Neuzil, and Shannon Neuzil both of Iowa City; one great-grandson, Brody Michael Elgin; brother and his wife, Patrick and Therese Burke of Gaitherburg, MD; Mother-in-law, Minnie Neuzil; and a sister-in-law, Anne Burke of Iowa City. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, son, Charles James Neuzil; and two brothers, Terrance and James.
