Obituary of Adolph A. Zabloudil, Sr.
Adolph A. Zabloudil Sr., age 89 of Ainsworth, formerly of Iowa City and Cedar Rapids died Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2006, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Adolphs memory. Adolph Albert Zabloudil was born February 13, 1917 in Burlington, Iowa the son of James and Adolphine (Knoebel) Zabloudil. He graduated from Cosgrove High School in 1935. On January 15, 1939 he married Bernice A. Graper in Cosgrove. The couple farmed for a number of years, he later was employed with Cherry Burrell Company in Cedar Rapids for many years retiring in 1981. In his youth, Adolph enjoyed playing baseball in area leagues. Adolph was a member of the #1024 of the United Auto Workers, and a member of the Moose Lodge. Anyone that knew Adolph, knew you couldnt stop to see him unless you played some cards or shared a good joke with him. But most important in his life was his family, he so loved being Grampa. His family includes his wife, Bernice; daughters, Carolyn Wolter (Dwain) of South Amana, Grace Stock of Clinton, IA, Mary Reese (Roy) of Iowa City, Margaret Farmer of Hills, Helen Miller (Thomas D.) of West Branch, and Nina Cullin (Randy) of Iowa City; sons, Adolph Zab Zabloudil Jr. (Mary) of Mt. Vernon, IA, Jim Zabloudil (Linda) of Storm Lake, IA, Bob Zabloudil (Deb) of Westerville, OH, and George Zabloudil of Washington, IA; 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Ada DeWit (Earl) of Cedar Rapids, and Margaret Willman of Overland Park, KS. Adolph was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Brian Cullin, son-in-law, John Stock, brothers, Wenceslaus and Robert Zabloudil; and sisters, Emma Smith, and Mary in infancy.
