Obituary of Russell L. Haycraft

Russell L. Haycraft age 82 of Solon died Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 6, 2006, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Wallace Bubar officiating. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the services on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Russell’s memory to the Solon First Responders. Haycraft was born August 1, 1924, in North Liberty, Iowa the son of James and Charlotte (Russell) Haycraft. He was united in marriage to Donna L. Taylor on January 8, 1946. For many years he worked as a custodian for the University of Iowa and also at the hospitals. His family includes a son, Edwin Haycraft and his partner, Steven Schultz of Solon. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Arthur Haycraft.
