Obituary of Virgil E. Davis, Sr.

Virgil E. Davis, Sr., 76 of 1355 Shannon Drive, Iowa City, formerly of Washington, Iowa died Thursday, December 14, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following an extended illness. Family services will be held on Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral Cremation Service in Iowa City. No other services are planned. Virgil Eugene Davis Sr. was born November 30, 1930, in Richland, IA the son of Eugene and Vera (Sutton) Davis. He married Lorraine M. Shalla on October 6, 1949. For many years Virgil has been a self employed truck driver. He was a former Mason, an avid car club member, and enjoyed racing, no matter what and who was doing the racing. His family includes his wife, Lorraine; children, Rick and his wife, Leann Davis of Walford, IA, Virgil Davis Jr. and his wife, Katherine of Washington, IA, Dixie Gorsh and her husband, John of Oxford, and Craig Davis and his wife, Terry of Amana; grandchildren, Alisa, Amber, Adam, Jim, Misty, Jessica, Barbara, Clayton, Sonja, Melissa, Lacie, Brandi, and Austin; great-grandchildren, Brynna and Haidyn; and one brother, Vernon Davis and his wife, Norma of Marshalltown.
