Obituary of William Ernst Redeker

William Ernst Redeker, 77 of Iowa City died Friday, February 4, 2011, at his home. A celebration of Ernie’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Nokomis, IL. There will be no visitation and memorial contributions can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com Ernie was born January 14, 1934, in Nokomis, IL the son of Walter and Louise (Palmer) Redeker. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. During his years of employment, he worked in construction with Esterday Builders, Nokomis, Il; sales and marketing with Wahlfeld Manufacturing, Peoria, IL; and sales and marketing with Moehl Millwork, Des Moines, IA. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. His family includes his wife, Elizabeth “Betty”; four children from a previous marriage, Susan (Dan) Krob, Kay (Ron) Grover, Carole (Rick) Noble, and Bill (Linda) Redeker; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, a brother Loyd (Dorothy) Redeker; a niece and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother.
