Obituary of Eleanor Ruth Trummel

Eleanor Ruth Trummel, of Iowa City, died on Sept. 19, 2011, at the age of 95. Mrs. Trummel donated her body to the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12th at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church, Iowa City where she was an active member. Mrs. Trummel was born October 31, 1915 in Washington County, Iowa to Winn Wilbur and Edna Valentine (Godrey) Eyestone and attended Washington High School, Fairfield High School and Iowa State College. She worked as a county extension home demonstration agent and taught school briefly before her marriage to John Franklin Merle (J.M.) Trummel. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Iowa City, and United Methodist Women. She was an avid genealogist, and compiled much information on her family as well as her husband's. Volunteering as a school reader to young children brought enjoyment in her later years. She is survived by four children: residing in California are Elizabeth Curtis, Bruce Trummel, and Keith Trummel and wife Paula Israel and in Colorado are: Barbara Andersen and husband, David. Also surviving are five granddaughters and four great grandchildren.
