Ruth E. Detweiler
1926 - 2015
Condolences
Mrs. Detweiler taught my math class at Springdale School in West Branch, Iowa. She was very strict and expected a lot of us kids. She helped us all learn to be better students:).
Mrs Detweiler was my 5th grade teacher and she was one of my very favorite teachers ever. She was a wonderful caring lady with a sharp wit and a twinkle in her eye. It's possible several WB men have one earlobe slightly longer than the other still today and we all loved her for that.
So sorry to hear of loss. During this time there will be tears, but please keep in mind that even Jesus gave way to tears when someone he loved died. this occasion was recorded in the Bible at John 11:35.
From one who has experienced such grief, I offer my sympathy.
She was my teacher 29 years ago. Still one of my favorite educators to this day. I remember her sweet, kind disposition and beautiful handwriting. She will be fondly remembered.
Sorry to hear about your passing. You were one of my favorite teachers I ever had. You will be missed dearly.
Sincere condolences to friends and family of Mrs. Detweiler. As you celebrate her life know that she touched many, many children's lives. As a former grade school student of hers, it is with fond memories & respect that I reflect on as I hear of her passing.
It is with such fond memories I think of Mrs. Detweiler. She was truly a tribute to the legacy teachers leave behind via their students. My deepest symphathy to her family. I am proud to have known her and still reap the benefits of having her passed through my life.
She was a wonderful lady, teacher, and friend. Heaven has gained truly another angel!
Im so sorry to hear of your loss. Prayers for all who knew and loved her.
I remember Mrs. Detweiler fondly from my school days at Springdale. I am a teacher myself because of the wonderful experiences I had with teachers like her. I count myself one of the fortunate ones who never had their "gourd thumbed" by her. I still share these discipline techniques with my students today, as a reminder to them how lucky they are I can't do that. I am so sorry for her family's loss.
What great fortune it is to be among the legions of children Ruth Detweiler taught, thanks to her gifted insights as a teacher and her inspirational example as a strong, independent and conscientious leader. The photograph with the notice beautifully portrays her self-assurance and a rare appreciation of the opportunity life presents us all. My condolences to all who mourn her passing and my gratitude to the great woman herself.
May you and your family find comfort and peace with the memories of your dear mom and smile.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember her fondly as my 5th and 6th grade teacher out at Springdale. I have great memories of the great teacher and nice person she was. She definitely made a good impression on me as it has been 36 years since she was my teacher. Please know your family is in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
