Obituary of Austin Schroeder

Austin "Flash" Schroeder, 15, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Tuesday morning, April 28, 2015. Fittingly, it was National Superhero Day. Austin maintained an inspiring level of positivity during his year of treatment for lymphoma, and is fondly remembered by thousands in the local community and beyond. Austin is survived by his parents, Craig & Stacy, brother Cody, sister Haley, grandparents Wayne & Twila Schroeder of North Liberty, James and Luanne Lytle of Dubuque, Uncles/Aunts Larry & Kathy Schroeder of Owatonna, MN, Mark Schroeder of Kansas City, Joline Lytle & Marcus Taggart of Plainfield, IL, Tara & Jason Wolbers of Findlay, OH, and cousins Zeke, Kenzie, Abby, Dylan, Marlie, and Rylie. Austin continued to Win The Day, every day, to the very end. As of Tuesday morning, the cancer lost the battle as it is dead and Austin's spirit lives on free of cancer and free of pain. He has truly Won The Day. Visitation will be held from 2 - 7 pm at St. Patrick's Iowa City on Friday, May 1, with mass immediately following at 7 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Austin "Flash" Schroeder Memorial Fund, which the family will use to fund cancer research and care at UIHC.
