He was born on April 17, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of Sterling and Geraldine (Jones) Miller. He worked at the bus station in Cedar Rapids, and also for the community school districts in Cedar Rapids, and for many years in Iowa City at both Northwest Junior High School and West High School from where he retired.
Curtis loved his family and they knew it, he was a remarkable dad, minister, pastor, and friend. Our dad will never be replaced, nor forgotten. He was the real deal, one in a million, and we loved him so! Dad's memory was alert, when it came to anniversaries and birthdays, he never forgot anything that had to do with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Hazel (55 years); 5 daughters, Laura (Ray) Pearson, T.C. Hazel Miller Jones, Jackie Miller, Carmencita Miller Brown (Dion), Rosalie Miller; Son, Curtis Miller Jr (Rachel); 31 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, Sterling Miller; sister-in-law, Barbara Miller, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
God said unto Reverend Curtis R. Miller Sr., "Welcome home my friend, well done oh good and faithful servent."
