Condolences
Thinking of you! Miss you!!
Miss you, Nate. Hope you are with Vicki.
I considered Nathan to be a close friend of mine in City High. We used to ride skateboards together in the summer, around the U of I campus. I remember him fondly as someone I felt very comfortable being around and talking to- and that's a rare thing in high school! I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. Please accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss.
Nate was married to my second cousin, Nikki. I remember when they began to date. Nate had an old soul He was kind to everyone. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone. He was a wonderful father to Maddy and he will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
We are so sorry for your loss, and send our deepest sympathy.
Doris and Bill Preucil
Dear Don,Jean, Kyle and Amy
I have so many wonderful memories of our family visits to Iowa City. They always centered around Hawkeye/Gopher football games. I remember Floyd coming home with us a lot. I remember Nathan showing me the correct way to eat the Amish cottage cheese by covering it with sugar.
During difficult times it is our faith that gets us through. I love this truth from Romans 8:38-39
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We are lifting you up in our prayers.
Love Chris, Shar, Grace, Hannah, Jonah and Judah Lind
Psalms 91:1,2 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.
So sorry for everyones loss. Everyones heart is aching. Nate was an awesome down to earth person and the best dad.
We will miss our sledding trips on the taboggan with Nate and Maddy, but we will hold on to all of the memories. Rest in peace Nate and we will meet up again!
Your family is in the thoughts and prayers of our family. May he be at peace.
Don and Jean,
My condolences on the loss of your son Nathan. Although I never had the opportunity to meet him, he seems like he was a wonderful man. He will be in our thoughts.
Don, Jean, Amy, and Kyle,
There are no words to express my deepest sympathy for you, Don and Jean. When our children leave us before their time it is unbearable at times. The pain never goes away, the memories remain, and we keep them in our hearts forever. You are very fortunate tohave such a great support group. Remember to use that support when necessary. It Can help immensely at times. The same for Kyle and Amy. I love you all with all my heart and pray for all of you.
Rest in peace my dear nephew.

Dear Koch's, my heart is broken for what has happened, but at the same time full of joy for the great memories Nate gave me. He is one of a kind and I love him dearly. He was and always will be one of the brightest shining stars, luv bec
I have the best memories of playing with Nathan as a child. He was one of the many reasons I loved visiting my grandma and grandpa Scheetz who lived across the street. We would play in the yard or in the field behind my grandparents house and go exploring in the forrest even though my grandpa told me not to.
Nathan was such a great person, I know it is true because that is what my grandmother, Mary Eileen told me.
I am so sorry for your loss but I am positive that my grandma was there to greet Nathan and say welcome friend!
Tammy

We can't begin to imagine your heartbreak at the loss of Nathan a heartache no one can heal. Hold each other close as your love for him leaves memories to help sustain you. Our hearts go out to you as we keep you in our thoughts and prayers. At family gatherings Nathan always seemed a quiet, deep soul with only those closest to him privileged enough to glimpse the full glory of his being. May God sustain you and help lead you through this terrible time of darkness and pain. Rest in peace, dear Nathan.
Sending our Love,
Lowell & Corrinne Reed Family
So very sorry for the loss of Nate. He was a wonderful guy who always had a smile when I saw him. The last time I ran into him was at Hy-Vee and we were talking about our girls being in high school. His face lit up with a big grin whenever he spoke of Maddyson. Nate was such a great Dad and we had good times when I was the girl scout leader at Lucas. He will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends and most of all Maddyson.
My thoughts and sympathy are with Nate and his family.

Nathan was a friend to our son, John Helble, and to our daughter, Stacey Mrozinski. We remember him as a kind, caring and shy young man who spent many hours playing with our children. They grew up together, and went to school together. We have been friends with his parents for many years. The Koch family has been and will remain in our thoughts and prayers; we are so sorry for their loss.
Leon and Margaret Helble
So very sorry about this sad news. May Nathan rest in peace.
Rest peacefully, Nathan. You were one of the kindest and most generous humans I have ever known. Praying peace for your family and friends. You will always hold a special place in my heart and in my fondest memories.
The quote by John Steinbeck comes to mind, " It is so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone." In Nate's case, the light shone extraordinarily bright to those he loved...and so it shall be a darker night for you. I am so very sorry for you (his parents and daughter) to have to find your way through the incredible darkness. Please be kind to yourselves. Allow your grief to come forth. May you find some peace and light along the path. With all my love~
Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
I only started my friendship with Nate late spring of this year, but I knew him as a kind, generous, affectionate, and loyal friend. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He will be missed greatly by me and the friends that we shared. To his family: you are in my heart and prayers.
So many great memories of Nathan,he was one of a kind. My mother use to say he had an old soul,I never understood what that meant until I was older. She was so right. He was a friend to all, always had a smile on his face. I will miss our talks while getting our coffee in the morning, always comparing notes on what was going on with our kids. He was so proud of Maddie, and the young woman she was growing into. He will be missed by all who have ever been graced with meeting him. If you knew him well or not he was your friend, taking time to always say hello and chat for a minute. An amazing man gone to soon. Peace and love to Nathans family.
I will always remember Nathan as a gentle soul. He was a wonderful friend to my son, Rob, a devoted father to Maddy, a hard-worker, and always so pleasant to be around. I know he valued the time he spent with his family - especially biking with his dad. We hope your many happy memories of Nate will bring you comfort at this sad time. We will miss him.
Though I hadn't seen Nate in years I have always considered him a good friend of mine, he had that special ability to become a friend for a lifetime whether you'd known him for years yet hadn't seen him recently or only knowing him briefly. I was a classmate of Nate's from the early days at Shimek Elementary and he leaves behind so many good memories and stories to be told. He left way too soon and leaves a gap for so many. With deepest condolences to his family and friends may your memories hold forever.
Jean and Don, and the entire Koch family, our deepest sympathy with the passing of Nathan. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
My deepest sympathies to the family and to Nate's close friends. You have lost one of the best guys out there. I knew Nate from grade school at Shimek until present, and he was one of the kindest human beings I ever met. I will miss him
Don and Jean, Our hearts go out to you. We are deeply sad about Nate's passing.

You will forever be missed. I wish that this wouldn't have happened so soon. You were a dear friend. Prayers go to you and your family.
Nathan was an amazing friend. He was there for me when no one else was. He was my friend, and my brother. I was able to talk to him about things I could talk to no one else about. It is Veterans day today. I would just like to say that this veteran would not be here today if it was not for Nathan. I love you my brother
Dear Don and Jean,

I remember putting out a small fire of a table ornament at Nate and Nikki's reception at the First Ave Club before the wedding party arrived. I always remembers Nate's smile when I would run into him at the Gasby's on Muscatine Ave in the morning when we were on our way to work. Although we had only met each other a few times at Wagner / Joens etc functions he always made a point to say "hi" to me and chat breifly as we both began our days. He will be missed. Love and prayers to all affected by this loss.
Words can never describe the depths of emotion when a parent loses a child. Life is so fragile. We are thinking of you and send prayers your way.
