Gathering for Family & Friends
Condolences
We were shocked to hear of Sam’s sudden death. My family worked with Sam for many years since we both were in the building industry. However, well before our working relationship, I knew Sam back when we were somewhere about 18 years old (give or take). We became good friends during the time he and Barb dated and I was lucky enough to be in their wedding party. And speaking of parties, there were lots of them back in the day – and never fear – the more Sam and I drank, the slower our dancing became while Gordon's and Barb’s sped up. Needless to say, we would switch dancing partner at some point or Sam and I would stay at the table and talk and talk and talk. He always gave me a hard time knowing I was so gullible. Case in point: Because I’ve always had red palms, one evening Sam had me convinced I had a very serious illness and needed to make a doctors appointment as soon as possible. Everyone at the table backed up his story until Sam could see I was really beginning to get freaked out. We all had a good laugh about that (and I ALWAYS think of Sam when the palms of my hands are really red or completely pale). Sam’s heart was as big as they come and he was a teddy bear…most of the time. Sammy, you will continue to put a smile on my face each and everytime I think of you.
I knew Sam since I was in 5th grade (for 50 years). We played a lot of baseball/softball together. For the last 25 years or so, we lived not far from each other on the eastside of IC. I never hesitate to tell anyone that Sam is probably the very best baseball player that I ever played with or against (little league-college ball). He could play any position. There was only one way to describe him with a glove or bat--smooth! He was a great pitcher, a great hitter, fast on the bases and made playing shortstop look easy. He was an all-around great athlete. I have no doubt that he had the baseball skills to play in the big leagues - no doubt at all.
He did many favors for me as neighbors on the eastside. He always had time to help me out - always. He was great teammate and friend. My condolences go out to his family and friends. - Bill D.
Gary and I are just shocked to hear that Sam is no longer with us in this world. Sam You will be missed by both of us. Gary has always been your friend through hard times and all the good times and you will be sadly missed. Rest in peace friend.

I am so sorry to hear of Sam's sudden passing. I used to buy carpet from Sam for property I managed. He was such a great guy to work with and always so friendly. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. 'Remember the love, not the loss" and hold him close in your hearts always.
Ron and I were so saddened to hear of Sam's passing. We have such good and fun memories of our times together. We always liked Sam. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Sam's family. Unfortunately, we will be at Ron's granddaughter's wedding so will not be able to attend the visitation. Our sympathy to Barb, Sam and Barb's children, Sandy and Tom and all other family members. God bless all of you during this difficult time. May Sam rest in peace.
