There are so many memories of Grandma Kahler that it's hard to describe all of them. But some of my favorite ones includes going to Oxford on the weekend to spend time with the family watching NASCAR races when I was real young and there was always a meal, jello salad, pudding, ice cream. I know it was a big change for her to move away from the homestead, but I truly enjoyed being her neighbor for 3 years when she lived in the apartment below me! The hardest thing about moving to Cedar Rapids was leaving her behind. Then having her at my wedding at 90 years old meant so much to me! I picked my wedding/reception area because I knew it would be easy for her to get around.
