Obituary of Helen Ann Ehlert

Helen Ann (Krueger) Ehlert, 69, longtime resident of this area died Sunday, May 12, 2019, at the Lone Tree Health Care Center.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30, Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the Lone Tree Cemetery.  Following this, a celebration of Helen’s life will be held from 3-5 pm on Tuesday at Gay Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Helen’s memory to Iowa City Hospice or Lone Tree Health Care Center in recognition of such compassionate care they provided Helen and her family.  To share a thought, memory or condolence with her family, please visit the funeral home website @ www.gayandciha.com.

Helen Ann Krueger was born July 8, 1949, in Iowa City the daughter of Delbert and Virginia (Watkinson) Krueger.  Being raised in the Lone Tree area she attended schools here graduating from Lone Tree High School with the Class of 1967.  For many years she worked as a seamstress.  Helen’s passion was genealogy.  She spent hours documenting her family history and loved it.  She also enjoyed collecting rocks; beautiful and unique ones.

Her family includes her two children, Sonia Johansen (Rob), and Craig Ehlert (Ronna); 3 grandchildren, Tyler Johansen, Aubrey Johansen, and Noah Ehlert; Helen’s siblings, Richard Krueger (Deanna), Ronald Krueger (Ginger), Merry Thomae (Jim), and William Krueger (Sharon); and numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved, and several friends and cousins who she considered as close family members!

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Carol Krueger.
