Condolences
Dear Rachel, and family,
My condolences to you on your dear Jim. I knew him for many years (34+) and came to appreciate his integrity on all matters especially the care of his patients.
He had a remarkable sense of humor and a deep understanding of historical and medical facts. I was blessed to share this during our long careers at Mercy Hospital ER. And he was a great cook!
May your memories and his love continue to comfort you all the days of your lives.
Sincerely, Joellen Megan
Jim's was a rare gift--equal measure of big heart and big brain. Time with him was special because he was so engaged, so curious. The world was filled with wonder for Jim Majusiak, and it rubbed off on his friends. Now he's off to another great adventure. Godspeed, good friend Jim.
Jim loved his dogs. I was Jim's veterinarian until my retirement. Everyone was always glad to see Jim when he came to the clinic with his dog. He had great stories to share and left everyone with a lingering smile. He will be missed by all.

Dr. Magic- one of the kindest most patient physicians I have ever had the privilege to work beside. I will always remember your smile and soft voice!
I am so sorry to learn of Jim's death. He was a good man and a wonderful doctor.
I can't remember if I first met him when I was a travel agent and he was a traveler or when he saved my son, Michael Hotz, in the Mercy ER when Mike was having an asthma attack.
Mike was in the ER many times and I was always glad when Jim was on duty/in charge. I knew Mike was in the best of hands.
You have my sincere sympathy; I also grieve.
I pray God will grant you peace and comfort. Ruth Fisher
I only knew Jim a short time, but I count him as a friend. We used to send each other pots of soup and enchiladas! I’m going to miss him.
I send condolences to my wonderful friend Anne as well as the entire Majusiak family. I wish I'd had the opportunity to know Jim, who was clearly a funny, loving, brilliant and all-around incredible person.
• You have my deepest sympathy, I am so sorry for your loss.

• Long ago, Dr. Majusiak owned a Datsun pickup, and I knew him as a customer. He was also a Mercy E.R. doctor who saved my life many times (I have asthma). He really enjoyed this story about me: I was at work at a local car dealership, and I was in distress, sucking the oxygen from an oxy/acetylene torch. waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Looking back, it had to appear humorous, but it worked. Ironically my primary care doctor was returning a rental car to the dealership at the same time, investigated, and rode in with me. Thanks to him, the story spread!
He will be missed.
Sincerely,
Michael Hotz
I have many great memories of working with Jim. He was a very patient and kind doctor/friend. He was known for his ninja crossword skills, spicy palate and quick wit. I fondly remember all the talks we had on those "slow" night shifts. An incredible person that will certainly be missed by many. I consider myself very lucky to have known him. My condolences and prayers to his family and friends.
Jim was a pleasure to have as a colleague at the Mercy Hospital ECU. He was gracious at work and even during his battle with cancer. Our sympathy is with his family.
My sincere condolences to the Majusiak family. I first met him 3 years ago when I was in the Mercy ER. He was so gentle, compassionate and professional. My next encounter with him was this spring when he came into our shoe repair shop and needed his dancing shoes fixed. I sincerely hope and pray that he got to dance once again in those shoes. I had wished he would come once again to just visit with us. He was a most interesting and friendly guy. I was sorry to read of his passing. May he rest in peace.
Jim was an exceptional colleague. He was knowledgable, calm in a crisis, and compassionate in the care of his patients. He was also a great friend who always had a friendly smile and made all of us feel better. I feel privileged to have known him and worked with him. He will be deeply missed.
Jim was a cherished member of the Er MD’s I worked with in my years in the ER. His bedside manner was outstanding and his patient’s were always thankful for that. My sympathy to his wife, family, and all his friends. It doesn’t seem possible that we won’t see that smile again or hear his laugh. Rest In Peace Jim.
I was so very sorry to hear of Dr. Majusiak's death. As a longtime employee at Mercy Hospital, l appreciated his service, as well as his friendliness and kindness.
With sympathy to all family and friends,
Nancy Voss
So sorry for your loss. He was always a great er doc and great and fun to work with. He will always remain in my fondness memory’s and so many other people’s. God bless him. Judy Jahnke
I had the pleasure to meet and work with Jim at Mercy Hospital starting in 2010 and feel privileged to have known him, if only for too brief a time. He was a pleasure to talk to, always lightened my day with his smile, was a great doctor and was always willing to talk about Jazz and tales of the more exciting days of Mercy’s past. His presence has been missed there the last few years and his passing leaves a large void in the Mercy family. My heartfelt condolences to his family.
To Family Friends Mercy ER Staff so sorry for your loss of Jim Majuslak he will be greatly missed by all that knew him very great Dr. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers may God give you all the comfort you need now and in the days ahead and always RIP Jim
I worked with Jim in the ER for a number of years. He was a caring doc and good in emergencies. Always had a good sense of humor which helped on more than one occasion. May he be at peace now.
Jim was a friend as well as professional colleague. We share our thoughts on our two different cancers( mine multiple myeloma). He and Bill Dull came over to provide support which was appreciated.Jim made 18 months with tough chemo rather than 3 to 6 months as anticipated. We applaud his courage and strength fighting the cancer. He will be missed. Dick and Judy Neiman
Sending our deepest heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Dr. James Majusiak served as a strong and passionate provider to our Hospital and community for many years. He will be missed by all. God Bless you and your entire family.
My sincere condolences to Jim's loved ones. As one of the many paramedics who brought him countless patients over the years, he was always such a joy to work with. His kind, caring, compassionate bedside manner, his skill, and that smile he always flashed will be forever etched in my memory...a quintessential healer.
I will never forget working with Magic! May he Rest In Peace.
I worked in labor/delivery at Mercy for 40 years and occasionally got called to the ER to assist with someone delivering quickly. It was always good to see Dr. Majusiak there helping out. Always kind and supportive with a calming word, we helped several babies arrive who decided not to wait for the ride to labor/delivery. A good person gone too soon.
I first met Jim when I was an intern and he was a senior resident in the University of Iowa Family Practice Residency program. He was a great teacher for the younger residents like me and my colleagues. When I moved on to private practice in Coralville, practicing at Mercy Hospital as well as my office, I continued to learn from him in his capacity as an ER doc. He was always unflappable in emergencies, had a vast fund of medical knowledge, was kind and caring with patients, and continued to educate his colleagues. He could be deadly funny-a great talent in the often stressful environment of the ER. He will be missed.
