Warren enjoyed fishing and he and Evelyn attended many dances and dance classes, becoming quite skilled in ballroom dance. He got to know his neighbors in Coralville initially by walking his dog Jacques around the neighborhood. As he aged he spent time socializing with neighbors as he sat in his garage. Everyone would stop in as they walked past with their families and dogs. Many adjusted their route in order to see him.
