Condolences
I’m so sorry for your loss. I knew Jerry from many years of shopping at Hy-Vee. He was always so friendly, always said “Hi” and yes...he always had a helpful smile. May your many happy memories bring you much comfort.

So sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. Jerry was a great friend I always enjoyed seeing him when I was in town for a football game. I’ll miss him.
So sorry to hear. I enjoyed getting to know Jerry when he was a parent at Horn. My thoughts are with Callie and Mason and the rest of the family.
Very sorry to hear. Loved working with him in my high school days at HYVEE.
Please accept our sympathy for your loss. Sincerely, Joan Crowe, Charleston Cemetery Association and Charleston Township.
After moving away from Iowa City many years ago I lost touch with Jerry. We were never super tight but in elementary school we spent a fair amount of time together, I think the house was on Mahaska? Anyway I recall going over there after school and listening to Yellow Brock Road. I think it was in Max's room (when Max wasn't there).
What a great guy. Always a smile and positive attitude. And super athletic to boot. I clearly recall the Presidential Fitness competitions. I think he won every year. He could clear more height on the high jump using the scissors-kick jump than I could have using all the methods of locomotion I could muster. Lots of fun playing "tackle the man" too on the playground during recess though.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time. In due time, may the bad memories be swept away and be replaced by the good ones, I know there were many good ones. It truly believe it will happen.

Carrie, Max, Jeff, Robbie, and family,
I am deeply saddened by the loss of Jerry. I cannot think of a better person that I got to share some many first experiences with when we were young. He will always be in my heart. My family adored him. I have so many wonderful memories of him. He will never be forgotten and will always be missed.
Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you and your family.

I enjoyed working with the Coralville Hy-Vee group years ago. Jerry was a great part of that group. Fun times at work and away from work. I am very sad to hear of his passing.
I worked with Jerry (and Carrie and Max) at the Coralville Hy-Vee in high school. We had such great times! I am so sad to read of Jerry's passing. Way too young! My thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones.

Jerry has been a friend of mine since 1st grade. He was the Best Man in our wedding and we've been married for over 29 years. I have enjoyed keeping in touch with Jerry all these years-he was a great friend-we will miss him dearly.
I’m so sad to hear of Jerry’s passing. There are so many great memories from Hy-Vee...Jerry was the best ! Much love to his family. Love ya Bones.
So sorry to hear about your loss. My heart goes out to your family. I remember how crazy I was about your dad when I was in elementary school and he was my PE instructor. He would pick me up and toss me around. Then I found out he had a son starting at Northwest at the same time I would be. I had such a crush on Jerry in 7th grade!
Had many a great time working at Hy Vee with Jerry! We also had many great times above and beyond work. Jerry was a good friend and will be missed by all. My Sympathy goes out to the whole Dains Family
Max and family, I was very sorry to read of Jerry’s passing. Sending kind thoughts your way.
I taught at Shimek Elementary when Jerry's father, Ken, was our p.e. teacher. Ken loved talking about his young children and was very proud of them!
I have fond memories of all of us as young cousins, playing and just being kids, listening to the Uncles and Aunts joke and laugh, truly special times together. I have comfort knowing there are wonderful reunions happening in Heaven. May you Rest In Peace cousin Jerry. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Janet Dains Hissem

I remember Jerry so well from my time at Hy-Vee. Such a wonderful guy, so friendly all the time. Although I haven’t seen him in many years, I remember him fondly.
Your spirit will live on....that laugh and all the good times. Glad we had a tailgate together last fall...your memory of times past was impeccable. Always talking about your kids and how great they were.
50 years ago at your 7th birthday still remember it like it was yesterday. Ernest Horn Hornet forever! Miss you Bones
