Condolences
I have so many fabulous memories of time spent with John....visiting him at Rip's Cash grocery and then years later at K-Mart, riding with him to Stanwood for Saturday night dances in high school, riding back and forth to UNI and spending time there with him, and having fun together at the Onslow reunions. Such a fun, caring and all-around "good guy". So sorry I can't make it to the celebration to share memories with family and friends. My sincere sympathy to all of his loved ones. Marcy Snyder Usher
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. John was such a kind man and we had fun during our time working at Kmart together. He always had a smile on his face and he was one you could laugh and joke with. He will be missed.
We will always remember John as a great friend and class mate. We had so many good times with John and he always had such a great and positive attitude. He will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers to his family.
There are not enough words to describe John. He is truly one of a kind. Watching him during our time in Onslow, I can tell you he had an impact on me. He led by example and made everyone who knew him want to be a better person. Love you John. RIP. Connie Bearce Jacobson
I went to school with John all of our years at Onslow and Midland. He was a valued friend and classmate, always concerned about our mutual friends.
My heart goes out to his family at this sad time.

He was the uncle everyone wishes they had. He always had a great sense of humor and a smile for everyone. He remembered everyone and I have many happy memories of Christmas Eve at my parents house growing up and all the laughter. You will be missed Uncle John! Love Ann Stedman

Old Man Rip truly was a special guy!!! So many memories, even a trip out to DC to watch Megan play ball. That’s a trip I will never forget. Lots of basketball and history. Such a great man!!!!
