Obituary of James F. York
James F. “Jim” York, 86 longtime resident of the North Liberty/Iowa City area died Monday, January 18, 2021.

James Franklin York was born February 16, 1934, in Iowa City the son of Samuel and Anita (Carney) York. He was united in marriage to Mary Beeler. Prior to a long career as an arborist with the University of Iowa Jim had worked at Barbara’s Bake Shoppe, and Noel’s Tree Service. In retirement Jim enjoyed being a greeter at HyVee and Target.
His family includes his two children, John Samuel York (Kim) and Lisa Godwin (Chris); 5 grandchildren, James Godwin (Lynn), John Godwin (Arielle), Jordan Godwin, Kelsey Blount (Tyler) and Jason York; 3 great-grandchildren, Christopher Godwin (C.J), Lily Godwin, and Frannie Blount; a special nephew, Randy Noel (Deb); special friends, Kathleen, Hernan and Christopher Castro and Connie Stellinga (Mark).
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, children, Dean York, Ginny York and Lori York; siblings, Samuel York, Mary Noel, Minnie Roth, Julia Collinson, and Marcella Van Dorpe; special friend, Noel Johnson; and special four legged friend, Ziggy.
