Condolences
Happy 75th Birthday Dad. Miss and love you so much.
I miss you so much every day dad. Thinking of you always. Cruise and Luke go up to your picture and say "Pa". They are learning to say Grandpa. Luke has tried to steal your watch from our bookshelf many times lol. He knows it's yours! I love you always. Miss you so much.
As a 1967 City High classmate of Steve’s, I am saddened for his family and friends. But whenever I think of Steve I am happy and smiling. He was an institution. The last time I saw him, at our class’ 50th reunion, he was his usual hilarious, sarcastic, frisky self. I dearly miss him.
My name is Robert Van Den Bulke. Steve entered my life in the early 1980's. He taught and showed me many memories as a youngster that I carried into my life. Watching MTV, CBS Football, Monday Night Football and many great boxing matches in the 80's started my love for sports. He took Aaron and I to a new event called Wrestlemania at a viewing party that changed our life forever. Watching Oakland A's games on his black and white TV when Rickey Henderson was just starting was a blessing. Steve had a good friend that collected baseball cards.. Back in 1981, his buddy would let me sort them when I would visit and gave me my first set of baseball cards that started my love for cards. www.CashForCardz.com now in business. Steve will always felt responsible for my new love in elementary school that I hated before we met. Steve always made me a runner and sprinter. I trained alot as a youngster and was also the fastest running in middle and high school. Stealing nickels, dimes from his jar to buy items from the ice cream man. My mom never let us drink soda or pop as a kid.. Steve would buy 2 liters of coke and I would take sips when they were both sleeping or at work which start my love for the drink. Not pepsi just coke. Theses were just a few memories that I would like to share. He always had his says that had stuck with me as well. BETTER LATE THAN NEVER and DONT DO SOMETHING TOMORROW THAT YOU CAN DO TODAY. Steve had given me Christmas and birthday cards over the years and would always circle the pre printed saying on the hallmark card FORGET ME NOT. Steve I will definitely not forget you.
Steve was quite a character who referred to himself as an “Avant-garde Bohemian” and that he was. One of the reasons that attracted me to him and of course his humor. Our phone conversations always included a couple of “laughs.” He was a loving father to Michelle & Angela who were the gifts of our marriage. I will always remember him with kind thoughts and his love of art, music and animals. Steve is with Bart now; together for eternity.
Much love and peace to you Steve. The memories of your spirited “Avant-garde Bohemian” charisma will live with me.

Besides sports, Steve and I didn't hang out a lot - but one nice early fall day Steve got his father's old car (forget the make and model but it was black and in really nice condition) and we were cruising I.C. We saw a cute college girl walking down the sidewalk,
did a right turn, stopped and opened the door so it lined up with the sidewalk. She peered in, as we asked if she wanted a ride, then asked if we'd take her where she was going...we agreed, and she rode around with us for a while before we dropped her off.
Being high schoolers we were all stoked to have been "hanging out" with an 'older woman'. As I remember, Steve was a nervous wreck during the encounter. How times change, now we'd probably be arrested, or something. Innocence lost!

Great guy! Longtime friend since City High. EVERYBODY 'knew Steve'!. Everybody liked him EXCEPT the guys who had to wrestle him OR elude his grip on the football field. BIG laugh and voice.. Good guy. My condolences to all of the Beemer Family.
