My deepest condolences to Deb, Natasha, and her family on the tragic loss. While I didn't know Steve personally I knew from my coworker Deb that he was a social worker for Iowa DHS. My handicapped sister has often received vital help from DHS so I appreciate the work Steve did for the citizens of this state. That he chose to pursue such work says a lot for him. Here's hoping Natasha and the kids can take comfort in all their loving memories of Steve and in knowing he's now in a better place. Take care. Sincerely, Scott Boerhave
I did not know Steve, but this is a beautiful picture of him. I'm so very sorry for the family's loss. Peace and prayers be blessed upon Steve and his family.
Steve! You were a great friend. I will never forget our days while in college when working at Bremwood with kids in Waverly. Our former co-workers have turned into life long friends. It was a job that allowed us to meet great people and change kids lives. It was a tough job as well. We took college classes together at Northern Iowa that were a lot of fun. I enjoyed going to the NCAA's with you and talking life and wrestling. Most of all, I envied your spirit and you could laugh anything off. When I coached baseball at Highland you came and watched our teams play and I always respected you for that. I am glad you got to meet some of the people from a community I coached in through wrestling. I always thought nothing ever bothered you. Your character was filled confidence, love, kindness, and GRIT! I always enjoyed the videos you sent me of your kids and you were a great father. I will never forget seeing how excited you were when you and Natasha moved to North Liberty into your families current house. You and Natasha were so excited. I am a Cubs fan and I have never seen so many Cardinals merchandise in my life. They must give that stuff away in Missouri. We rented a uhaul and moved most of everything from Oxford to North Liberty in about a day. Still hanging in my garage is the huge Johnny Cash poster you gave me for helping you guys move. Whenever I see that poster I think of you and your family. As time goes by we will all help look out over your family. Godspeed!
