Obituary of Nancy Wallen
Nancy B. Wallen, age 76 of Ainsworth died Monday, September 13, 2021, at University of Iowa Hospitals. Nancy Beth Wallen was born March 9, 1945, in Iowa City the daughter of Warren and Beth (Fuiks) Wallen. Following graduation from Iowa City City High School in 1963 she attended and graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She spent over 40 years as a pharmacist first at the Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, IL and retiring from St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Nancy was dedicated to her career as a pharmacist and developed several process improvement, patient safety and cost saving programs at Silver Cross. She truly enjoyed whet she did.
Nancy took on a parental roll in the life of her niece Beth and later her great nieces Victoria and Sonja. Nancy rarely missed a school play or concert. She enjoyed spending time with them shopping, eating out, going to horse shows and traveling.
Nancy enjoyed cooking and especially baking and making candy for the holidays and has passed down many of her favorite recipes. She enjoyed plant and having a flower garden and if you needed to know what a plant was she could tell you. She enjoyed animals and almost always had a pug at her side.
Nancy also liked to visit her siblings and nieces and nephews on a regular basis. She particularly enjoyed going to plays in the Amanas with friends and family.
She is survived by her two siblings, Carolyn Hayes and Richard Wallen (Susan); nieces and nephew, Beth, Heather (Tim), Heidi and Chris, and great nieces and nephews, Victoria, Sonja, Paige, Tayler, Derrick and Devin.
Nancy’s wishes included no formal services, but cherish the memories, friendship and love shared with her. She would ask that if you wanted, contribute to Miracles in Motion, a group that was very important to her and so many others.
