Mr. Longhurst was one of those special teachers that made Jr. High more bearable. He was patient and kind and treated every student with respect. I still remember him fondly, as the first teacher to encourage my writing (7th grade Language Arts over 40 years ago), and to bolster my self-confidence. It sounds like he continued to positively affect many people through the years. Thinking of you all at this difficult time, take care.
So sad to learn of Don's passing. I am in Arizona and will miss the service, but please know I am thinking of you, Sue, and holding warm memories of you and Don and Lucy and me and the good times we shared on Teg Drive.
Don was a strong, gentle, and honorable man who lived a good life and enriched those who knew him. I was lucky to be able to have known him as a friend.
Don is an old old friend from school and our EUB Church in Muscatine. He was always a great friend and I remember well the times his brother Ron, Rich Jones, and Don would walk me home from church. Such a protector!! He will be missed.
Don was a friend to all. We lived across the street from each other in Muscatine. We played sports together in junior high and high school. He was Best Man in our wedding. He kept a positive attitude during his battle with cancer. He will be missed, but we can cherish all the great memories. Kenn and Barb Sturms, Saline Michigan
This is Elaine Altmaier Haddy and I used to play pickle ball with Don and also Sue. Don was such a wonderful man. You are in my thoughts and prayers. How long had he been sick?
So sorry. We are in Florida so I can't come to the visitation. I will be there in thoughts.
