Condolences
My family lived next door to Millie and Vern for 10 years in Leclaire. Millie loved to chat and give cookies to my kids. She will be greatly missed.
I just returned from vacation as was so saddened to hear of Millie's passing. She was such a bright spot in my first years of teaching by helping me get over all the rough spots. She was so willing to help me in any way she could. I know she will be greatly missed by her family. Please accept my sympathy at this difficult time.
Millie was one of the kindest, most thoughtful, gentle souls I have ever met. She was of the most honorable Lioness Club members in our LeClaire Chapter and a great friend. May she look down from the heavens and see results of good deeds she accomplished in her lifetime; And may she now rest in peace in the presence of God.
I am sorry to read of Millies passing. Vic and I enjoyed our times together with the two of you. You have my condolences.
We are so sorry for your loss. Millie was one of our favorite patients and will be missed dearly! From Genesis Health Group of LeClaire, Dr. Smith, Rebecca McCullough ARNP , Maggie, Jackie, Sally, Tisha and Diana.
To Vern and family,,
I am so saddened to learn of Millie's passing. She was an lovely lady in every way. I enjoyed working with her at the Iowa Welcome Center. Our relationship began years sooner when she was the secretary at Cody school. The girls loved her so much and we all have very fond memories of her. We were blessed to have Millie as a part of our lives. May God hold you all close and bring you comfort and peace during this difficult time.
Blessings,
Elaine
On behalf of the LeClaire Milestones Agency on Aging , I send sincere condolences to Mildred's family. We were all so happy to have the privilege of knowing her and helping out in her later years. May the joy she inspired sustain you through this parting time, and always. ~ Milestones Cafe staff
It was with great sadness that I read about Millie's death. I had so hoped to see her at St James last June when our family brought Daddy 'home' for his memorial. But it was not to be. Judy told me them that Millie and Vern were not well enough to attend Dad's services. I was most sadden not to see them.
Millie was a warm and welcoming face at Cody Elementary when I began teaching in 1972. She generously gave of herself and her time to help students and teachers. I'll always appreciate the kindness she showed toward me. She will be missed and fondly remembered.
Millie was the secretary when I started my teaching career at Cody in 1970. She was loved by every teacher, student, and parent she dealt with. She made each individual feel special with her ever present smile and her "Honey", "Sweetie", "Dear". She made coming to work a pleasure. She was certainly loved by many and will be missed.
Hi Everyone,
I was so touched this morning when I read about Millie's "promotion to Glory". I wish we could be there for the services but know our thoughts and prayers are with everyone right now.
If someone could have favorites in a family, (and of course you can't because that would make trouble...) then Millie would have been my favorite "cousin". She was beautiful, kind, cheery and fun to be around. Of course she was more like an aunt to me and I always enjoyed being with her and Vern. The little house with the brown shutters in LeClaire has always been a "happy place" for me. Even just driving by it was an assurance that in a world gone wrong, here was a place where two people loved each other so wonderfully.
Vern, thank you for sharing your beautiful bride with the rest of the family. I can say nothing else to make her absence any easier to bear.
Patrick and Judy, Kathy and Dennis, Kevin and Terri - Just the fact that your names are still linked together and not separately gives beautiful tribute to the love and committed demonstrated by your Mom and Dad. Love to you all.
Millie was an amazing woman. In the short time that I got to take care of her at riverview manor, I learned so much from her. I loved coming in to work everyday just so I could see her smiling face. She has such a warm heart and I will miss her dearly. It breaks my heart!!! RIP Millie
My entire family has so many fond memories of Millie. She was a great neighbor as well as friend. I think she was the first person that Signe flashed a smile to at just a few days old! Please accept our sympathy. She will be remembered fondly by us all.
Rex, Kathy, Signe and Scott Salthun
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of your family.
