After graduating from Davenport High School she married Vern Taylor, on August 17, 1947, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Davenport. She worked for several years at the Le Claire High School and then most of her career at Cody Elementary School in the Pleasant Valley School District, retiring in 1986. Being almost-lifelong residents of Le Claire, it's fitting that she and Vern spent 14 years at the Le Claire Welcome Center, warmly welcoming many into their community. She was also a member of St. James Lutheran Church where she was proud of her faith, her God and helped share His love through Sunday school and Bible study. She was also a member of the Le Claire Lioness club. Throughout her entire life she was very family oriented, she enjoyed time with her family, cooking, eating and enjoying all they accomplished together. She also enjoyed flowers, music, gardening and ceramics, but most of all, being a grandmother! Mildred's family includes her husband, Vern; and children, Patrick (Judy) Taylor of Davenport, IA, Kathleen (Dennis) Boyd of North Liberty, IA and Kevin (Terri) Taylor of Ft. Myers, FL; grandchildren, Charles (Kristen) Taylor, Andrew (Jessica) Taylor, Joseph (Becky) Taylor, Katherine (Ben) Voss, Todd Boyd, Nicholas (Heidi) Boyd, Lisa (Leonard) Barbaro and Brian Taylor; great grandchildren, Audella, Chase, Natalie, Bryce, Sydney, Luke, Audrey, Jacob, Alexis, Taylor and Alivia. Mildred's surviving siblings include, Richard Farley and Susan (Dan) Hein of Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.
